Sara Alfieri (b. 1998, Rochester, New York) received her BFA from Illinois State University (ISU) in 2020. She later completed a Graduate Student-At-Large program at ISU before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado to pursue a Post-Baccalaureate program at Colorado State University (CSU). Alfieri designs and develops digital prototypes using C.A.D. (Computer-Aided Design) software which is then translated into physical forms through the mold-making and slip-casting process. By using old and new mechanisms of working, she is interested in how utilizing the digital fabrication process, in tandem with hand-built vessels, can highlight these processes’ differences while finding ways to connect their potentials. Alfieri has been featured in several publications including the “Exposure” section of Ceramics Monthly and the 2021, 2022, and 2024 Strictly Functional Pottery National Exhibition Catalogue. She was awarded the “Studio Potter Merit Award” in the 2023 NCECA Student Juried Show and “Best in Show” in the 2023 Art Students League of Denver Biannual Exhibition. Alfieri has exhibited her work nationally in several recognized galleries and remains committed to supporting and engaging with gallery representation through the creation of both her ceramic vessels and sculptures.
